On November 7, 2019, a meeting was held Information Security Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, US on academic sector of Cyber Security and Cyber Policy.
The Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute (ISI) is the University’s focal point for research and education in information security, assurance and privacy. Securing cyberspace and their national information infrastructure is more critical now than ever before, and it can be achieved only when the core technology, legal and policy issues are adequately addressed. ISI is committed to a comprehensive approach that includes input from academia, industry and government. The University, through Information Security Institute’s leadership, has thus been designated as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance by the National Security Agency and leading experts in the field.
Mr. Larry Nagahara – WSE Vice Dean for Research, Mr. Anton Dahbura – Executive Director, Mr. Xiangyang Li – MSSI Program Director, Mr. Joseh Carrigan – Senior Security Engineer, Mr. Terry Thompson – Lecturer on Risk Management & Policy, Ms. Hedy Alavi – Assistant Dean for International Programs joined us for this meeting on the discussion of Cyber Security. We, International Visitors Leadership Program, IVLP, as an Experts on Cyber Security from Nepal, raised several questions.
At the Information Security Institute of Johns Hopkins University, we got to discuss recent ransomware attack on the city of Baltimore. We also got to examine ways to approach cyber security breaches and best practices to maintain internet safety. Finally, we learnt about the risk of hospitals as a target for cyber-attacks, and ways to confront this phenomenon.
